There is a rod (pintle) that is pulled up by an electromagnet to allow fuel to flow out. Pintle-Style had a weakness in high flow situations called "floating". Meaning they could stay partially open when they should be closed, or vice versa due to the vertical design of the rod, or "pintle". New Style are "Disc-Style". Vertical pintle design was replaced by a rotating disc, (more accurate).
